Financial Analyst, VP-1905878DescriptionThe Financial Analyst, VP manages and monitors large project or accounting processes within the accounting function. S/he provides subject matter expertise to leaders and business lines by providing guidance, interpretation, and communicating impact to business lines/accounting team.Responsibilities:* Leads the Account Certification process to uphold the integrity and quality of the NYB financial statements* Prepares journal entries and manage transactional postings to the general ledger* Assists in the monthly close process including preliminary review of financial statements and explanation of budget to actual variances* Analyzes data for preparation of financial statements, reports, and regulatory filings* Assists in document preparation for audit and tax return related requests for tax preparers and have a good understanding of the tax components presented to management* Researches and analyzes new products, systems, and/or best practices within the accounting function; proposes findings to Accounting Director* Improves existing processes and practices within the Accounting department and creates efficiencies. Enhances financial policies and procedures manual ensuring completeness and accuracy* Collaborates cross-functionally with all lines of businesses to facilitate and lead timely implementation and standardization of any new accounting requirements made to the existing accounting policies and procedures* Ensures compliance and regulatory standards are met within the department* Collaborates with other finance department managers to support overall department goals and objectives* Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders* Assists in projects and initiatives as requested by senior management and takes active role in project implementation* Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy* Monitors and communicates accounting developments to the organization's operations, financials, and regulatory reporting to management* Represents the organization as a subject matter expert for specific accounting projects, initiatives, and updates* Shares accounting expertise with leaders and business lines by providing guidance, interpretation, and communication of policy and/or procedural changes and impact.At Santander, we value and respect differences in our workforce and strive to increase the diversity of our teams.
